Motherhood in the Pasture

May 2026

Hey Growers,

This Mother’s Day, I’ve been thinking a lot about my mom.

Over the last few years, our relationship has changed in ways neither of us expected. Grief has a way of doing that. As two widows learning how to move through life without our partners, we’ve found a different kind of connection with one another. One built less on fixing things and more on simply understanding.

Sometimes our conversations are deep. Sometimes they’re about absolutely nothing. Sometimes it’s silence. But there’s comfort in knowing someone else understands the weight certain days can carry without needing every feeling explained.

Last year around this time, we were halfway across the world together in Thailand.

We stood beside elephants in the jungle. Walked through ancient temples filled with incense and candlelight. Sat quietly with monks and experienced moments of peace that are honestly hard to put into words. Looking back now, I realize that trip was about far more than travel. It was healing. It was connection. It was learning how to keep living fully while still carrying loss beside us.

Life and loss exist together constantly out here. Tiny lambs are born while old trees fall in the woods. The sunsets are breathtaking even on difficult days. Maybe that’s why this place feels so meaningful to me.

Farm in Broome was never just about animals or camping or events. It’s about creating space for people to slow down long enough to reconnect with themselves, with nature, and with the people they love while they still can.

As the fields turn green and the farm fully wakes up for the season, I’m feeling especially grateful for family, for resilience, and for the quiet moments that somehow become the memories we carry forever.

To all the mothers, caregivers, grandmothers, chosen family, and anyone carrying both love and loss this weekend, I’m thinking of you.

And to my mom, thank you for continuing to walk beside me through all of it.

Rest. Reflect. Grow.

Steven

New Life in the Pasture

Last month brought one of the sweetest signs of spring to the farm as one of our sheep welcomed a beautiful set of twin lambs into the world.

There’s something incredibly peaceful about watching new life arrive on the farm. Within minutes of being born, the lambs were already trying to stand on shaky legs while their mother stayed close beside them, gently nudging and guiding them every step of the way.

Since then, she has barely let them out of her sight.

She watches every movement, softly calls to them if they wander too far, and instinctively positions herself between them and the rest of the world. Whether they’re resting in the grass or exploring the pasture for the very first time, her attention never drifts far from them.

It’s impossible not to stop and admire the quiet strength and tenderness of motherhood when you witness it up close like this.

Moments like these are part of what makes spring on the farm feel so special. New beginnings, gentle reminders to slow down, and the simple beauty of caring for one another.

Introducing Our First Farm Experiences

As the farm continues to grow, we’re excited to begin sharing the land in a more intentional way through small group experiences designed to feel personal, relaxed, and grounded in the everyday rhythm of farm life.

All experiences include general admission to the farm and are intentionally kept small to preserve the peaceful atmosphere and allow for more meaningful interaction. To book your experience you can email the farmer.

Meet Frick & Frack
Highland Cow Experience

Walk & Reflect
A Guided Walk with Steven

This guided experience invites guests to slowly explore the fields, trails, and surrounding landscape while creating space to simply be present. Some visitors may come to learn more about the story and vision behind the farm, while others may simply want time outdoors to clear their mind and reconnect with nature.

Wherever you are in life, the experience meets you there.

Farm Life: Animal Care
A Hands-On Farm Experience

Experience the daily rhythm of life on the farm through this interactive experience.

Guests will step behind the scenes to help care for the animals while learning about their personalities, routines, and needs. Participants may assist with feeding goats, sheep, and ducks while gaining a closer understanding of what daily farm life truly looks like.

Perfect for guests who want to participate in the experience, not simply observe it.

Thank You for Following Along

Over the last few months, the amount of love and support shared online has been incredibly humbling.

Every follow, comment, message, and shared post helps introduce more people to the story and vision behind Farm in Broome. Watching this community slowly grow has meant more than I can put into words.

Thank you for cheering us on, sharing the journey with others, and helping this little farm reach people far beyond the fields here in Broome County.
