Better Late than Never

April 2026
Hey Growers,
Spring is starting to make its way across the farm… even with a few surprise snow showers mixed in. The days are getting longer, the ground is waking up, and little signs of the season are beginning to show.
We found ramps growing wild across the property, tucked into the woods like they’ve been here all along. It felt like one of those quiet reminders of why this place matters. Life returning, slowly and on its own time.
We’ve also welcomed a new horse to the farm, one that came from a difficult and unfortunate past. There’s still a lot we’re learning, but creating a safe, calm place for him to land feels important. It’s a different kind of growth, and a big part of what this space is meant to hold.
At the same time, this season hasn’t come without its challenges.
We lost our three baby goats in a way that was sudden and hard to process. It was one of those moments that reminds you how much you’re still learning, and how real this work is. Around that same time, we also lost my uncle in an accident, and our family came together the way we always do to support each other through it.
Losing my Uncle Rick has been especially hard. He was my dad’s older brother, and with my dad gone these past five years, it feels like another piece of that generation slipping away. After also losing my husband and both of my grandparents, this one sits a little deeper. It’s a reminder of how much has been carried, and how important it is to have family close through it all.
Even in a season that’s held both growth and loss, the land keeps moving… and in its own way, helps bring you back to center.
Rest. Reflect. Grow.

Open Farm with CCE Broome
We’ve been getting everything ready for our Open Farm with the Cornell Cooperative Extension Broome County, and little by little, it’s all starting to come together. The raised beds are prepped and ready for planting, the farm store is being merchandised, and the parking area is set to welcome guests for the first time. Signage is in production, paths are taking shape, and the details are falling into place.
There’s a lot of excitement in it… and a fair amount of anxiety too.
Opening something this personal brings a different kind of energy. You want it to feel right, to reflect the intention behind it all. But more than anything, it’s about creating a space that feels real, welcoming, and worth stepping into.

Frick & Frack are Coming Back
Frick and Frack are getting ready to come back to the farm.
They spent the winter at our friends’ place, Silverwind Farms… mostly because they got a little too good at escaping here. Turns out fencing is more of a suggestion in their world.
While they’ve been away, they’ve kept busy stepping into their new role as unofficial uncles to the calves born late this winter. Keeping an eye on things, stirring up a little trouble, and making sure no one takes life too seriously.
We’ve made some upgrades on our end, so we’re ready for round two. Let’s see how long the fences last this time.

Rooted in Kindness - Now at the Farm
We’ve also been getting a few special pieces ready for Open Farm as part of Rooted in Kindness.
The birdhouses are just about finished, each one engraved and built with care by CMC Woodworking. Alongside them, the first trees and chairs are being placed around the property, creating quiet spots to sit, reflect, and remember.
Each of these pieces holds a story. They’re small but meaningful ways to honor someone, to create a lasting connection to the land, and to be part of something that continues to grow over time.
They’ll all be in place and ready to experience when you visit. You'll also be able to order them at the Farm Store when we open.
