August on the Farm

August 2026

Hey Growers,

When I began building Farm in Broome, I believed there was something special taking root here. It was never just about creating a farm. It was about creating a place where people could slow down, reconnect and leave feeling a little lighter.

This month, I had the opportunity to share that vision with Upstate New Yorker. The response has been incredible. More people are discovering the farm, following the journey and reaching out to visit, collaborate or simply offer encouragement. After so much building, planting and wondering if I was headed in the right direction, it feels like a meaningful sign that people are connecting with what I am creating.

The gates are open. Campers are arriving, visitors are meeting the animals and new memories are forming across the property.

August also brought the Lumberjack Festival, a wonderful reminder of the character, history and hardworking spirit of this region. It also brought a tornado, reminding me just how quickly life and plans can change. I am grateful the farm and animals are safe, and thankful for the neighbors and community who continue to look out for one another.

It may still be August, but winter is never far from my mind. Preparations are already underway, from planning animal shelters to thinking through feed and hay storage before the first snow arrives.

For now, I am soaking in the sunshine, welcoming visitors and continuing to build one thoughtful step at a time. Thank you for following along and helping the Farm in Broome story reach more people.

Rest. Reflect. Grow.

Notes That Stay With Me

Since sharing my story with Upstate New Yorker, I have received messages that remind me why I created Farm in Broome and why continuing to speak openly matters.

One person wrote:

“This video touched me in so many ways. I can’t believe it took me this long to learn what Farm in Broome was all about. A few years ago, my son was diagnosed with a rare, inoperable brain tumor. The trauma and grief we have endured has changed me as a person, and I have finally learned to accept that I may never be the same person again. Thank you for speaking out for others. I would adore some time exploring your beautiful creation, and I think my little guy would enjoy it too. This video is beautiful, and you are an inspiration.”

Notes like this are incredibly special to me. They remind me that the impact of Farm in Broome reaches beyond the animals, the views or a day spent on the property. This place can help people feel seen, understood and a little less alone.

That is the heart of what I hope to create here. Every message, visit and shared story reminds me that this work matters and that Farm in Broome is becoming the kind of place I once needed myself.
